“It is very hard for me to turn off the creative process. My mind never shuts down. My Dad showed me how to ‘do’ things mechanically. He was and is a great resource for the execution and completion of a project. "
“There is a solution to every challenge. My Mom’s eye was my creative source. I remember how well she could draw. She was always singing a song – most of the time it was one she made up. As a kid I thought, how cool that she could do that. She was bold in her sense for decoration. Not necessarily good, but bold. She took risks and didn’t much care what others thought. Example: I guess I was ten, my Mom decided our red couch should be turquoise. She bought fabric paint (mind you, this was the sixties so you could inhale all kinds of stuff – no warnings on the cans), handed me a can of spray-paint and said, ‘Go for it.’ What a great time. The problem was, the paint would never fully dry so you would always be stuck to the sofa. The upside: we were always high from the smell. I miss her. The only direction for me to go in my career is to continue to do what I know. That is to create.”
